All Rise for the Killers and Kings

I’m feeling especially proud of the title that I created for this news article..  I don’t want to toot my own horn or nothin’, but it seamlessly uses the titles of the two songs that I’m covering in this article and it sounds cool to boot.  Anyway, enough of me patting myself on the back like a douche bag, here comes some new jams \m/!

Image

First up we have the track “All Rise” from recently announced group Wovenwar.  Just to catch up those of you who aren’t in the know, Wovenwar is the new band featuring 3/5ths of As I Lay Dying (Tim Lambesis is absent for some reason…) and Oh, Sleeper’s Shane Blay.  This means that a lot of people are probably pretty excited to get a taste of these guys musical leanings.  I will tell you this, there are no screams or gutturals in this song. So imagine less chuggy As I Lay Dying instrumentation with some above par cleans. Personally I think it’s an undeniably catchy song if not really all that exciting.  Anyway here’s the song.  This track will appear on Wovenwar’s currently untitled debut album which will be out this summer on Metal Blade Records.

The song that finishes my over-hyped news title is the new Machine Head single that appeared on their Record Store Dy exclusive 10″ also titled “Killers & Kings”.  I’m assuming that this track will appear on their upcoming still untitled new album which will be out this fall on Nuclear Blast.  So yes, if you were not one of the lucky ones who were able to make it out to a record store this past Saturday, fret net!! For IFLHM has got your back!  Jam the new song bellow then definitely tell me what you think.  Personally, I think this is the sound of Machine Head trying to keep things simple and maybe fresh.  While I am digging the groove of the track and the sick riffs scattered throughout, I admit that I miss the much more epic scope of their Blackening and Unto the Locusts material.

Movement in the As I Lay Dying Camp…Kind of

Image

This past Friday every member of As I Lay Dying (except for Tim Lambesis surprisingly) posted the above photo to there instagram accounts.  That doesn’t look like an As I Lay Dying logo does it?  The PRP has also uncovered that some of the band members registered a domain name for something called ‘Worshiper”.  This is even more evidence to support the possibility of new project from the AILD bros.  Also doesn’t the logo in the picture look like a W  that could stand for *gasp*! Worshiper?  The pieces of the puzzle are all falling into place.  This potential news will definitely excite a fair amount of people.  Personally I’m just curious to see what the reamians of As I Lay Dying do in this Unprecedented situation.  I will definitely keep you guys in the loop as this story develops.  Also if you’re interested in reading the original article head over to the amazing journalists at Metalsucks.

UPDATE: Tim Lambesis’ defense attorney makes statement about police informant

Here is the statement from Anthony Salerno, the defense attorney for As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis:

“I would anticipate myself asking for quite a bit of additional discovery, particularly on this person I strongly suspect is a snitch and is an informant for the police and was really creating this whole scenario and sort of setting Tim up. I believe there’s a good probability he may be a police informant. And that information is only available internally with the police department, or in this case the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, and through the D.A.’s office, and that’s something I’m gonna have to explore as well.”

You can also view/listen to an audio clip from Salerno that goes into more detail about the case.

UPDATE: Tim Lambesis pleading not guilty to solicitation for murder

The UT San Diego reported the following about Tim Lambesis and his case for solicitation for murder:

“His family, fans, band manager and band lawyer packed the courtroom, and many wrote letters to the judge in anticipation of the hearing.

The prosecutor argued that Lambesis be held on $20 million bail, citing the musician’s wealth and global connections, but his defense attorney argued that the amount was unreasonable. If he bails out, he was ordered to stay away from his wife and their three children.”

The UT San Diego also reported the following about Meggan Lambesis, Tim’s wife. Read below:

“The couple sought joint custody and agreed to mediation to set visitation terms.

Meggan Lambesis, who said she had quit teaching private school and was a stay-at-home mother, asked the court to order an expert to set the value of their community property and music-related businesses. She did not specify an amount she wanted for spousal support.

She submitted a 2010 tax return showing the couple’s $233,000 in gross income.”

The other members of As I Lay Dying posted the following on their Facebook page as well:

To our fans,

As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.

Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.

Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.

– Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh

We’ll keep you updated as we keep finding more information about all this.
