The Dethklok Rock Opera is coming! FUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small tweeted the following earlier today:

“What happens to Toki? Metalocalypse; the Doomstar Requiem. A 1hr complete ROCK OPERA w/ 1 hr of brand new original music. Coming soon. RT”

Adult Swim also announced the following:

“In Metalocalypse: The Doom Star Requiem, we pick up directly after the abduction of Dethklok guitarist Toki Wartooth in the season 4 finale. With his life in danger his only salvation can come from the four most selfish human celebrities on earth—his bandmates, extreme metal band DETHKLOK. Will they be able to get past their own egos to help someone besides themselves? Find out in this one-hour heavy metal rock opera special with a completely original score. Created by Brendon Small, Metalocalypse: The Doom Star Requiem airs in October. Animated one-hour special.”

One thing’s for sure. The day I see this will be better than all of my birthdays, Christmas celebrations, quickies, and other FUCK YES moments combined.

Times infinity.

Brendon Small’s Galaktikon to debut live at Wesfest 8

WesFestPoster-FINALhires

Why is this news cool?

I’ll tell you.

WesFest 8: A Concert to Benefit the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Scholarship at Berklee College Of Music, is a concert meant to raise money for the Wes Wehmiller Endowed Scholarship. So far, the WesFest concert series, in conjunction with other fundraising efforts, has produced more than $150,000 in seven years.

Now you’re probably asking, “Well, who the hell is Wes Wehmiller?

I’ll also tell you.

According to the press release, Wehmiller was “a Berklee graduate (’92) and highly accomplished bassist, athlete and photographer who died of thyroid cancer in January 2005.”

Did you also know that Brendon Small, the creator of Metalocalypse and Dethklok, was also a Berklee alum? ’97 baby.

Anyways, this occasion is momentous because:

A) This will be the first time a metal act has headlined WesFest.

B) This will be the debut live performance for Brendon Small’s Galaktikon!

C) According to the press release, “the live band required to pull off the multi-layered music of Brendon Small’s Galaktikon will contain four guitarists, including L.A.-based guitarist and former Musicians Institute Guitar Program Director Jude Gold (Jefferson Starship, Billy Sheehan), Mike Keneally (Dethklok, Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani), Rick Musallam (Ben Taylor, Carly Simon), and Small himself. Additional band members include keyboardist/guitarist Walter Ino; bassist Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Steve Vai, The Aristocrats); drummer Tim Yeung (Morbid Angel); and vocalists Ben Thomas (Zappa Plays Zappa), Kira Small (Peter Frampton, Martina McBride), Ali Handal (Neil Young, Paul Williams) and Jude Crossen.”

So, lots of awesomeness basically.

Ticket information can be found here.

And hey, wouldn’t you know it? We found an entire album stream of Brendon Small’s Galaktikon for you.

Metalocalypse and Dethklok fans and Klokateers around the world: you’re gonna wanna check this out.

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small video interview

Lamb Of God legal issues. Machine Head health problems. Hurricane Sandy.

What do these unfortunate events have in common? They may be part of a so-called “Deth Kurse” that was cast upon Dethklok’s tour this year. “Metalocalypse” creator Brendon Small claims there is no evidence to support the conspiracy theory of a “Deth Kurse”…but the aforementioned events sure sound like they’d all be  in an episode of “Metalocalypse.”

In addition to shedding light on Dethklok’s tour this year, Small talks about the creation of “Dethalbum III,” the fourth season of “Metalocalypse,” his personal songwriting process, his stand-up comedy and “Galaktikon,” his space opera-esque “high stakes intergalactic extreme rock album.”
